Important Tips:
- Tell your council representative that you will only vote for candidates who are on board with the humane causes you support and you are supporting the No-Kill method for the county shelter. Do not forget to mention that you are a registered Horry County voter and a member of the Humane Voters of Horry County. It is okay to include your affiliations with other humane groups, too. Check the list of council candidates who are up for election in year 2020 from the list above.
- Remind officials that you are a No-Kill supporter, and you are not satisfied with the county’s slow progress toward that goal. As a citizen, you do not want your tax dollars to be spent on the killing of healthy or treatable animals at the shelter. The No-Kill movement has been proven to work in shelters all across the United States. Horry County continues to ignore the best practices and proven strategies that will solve the county shelters problems, while reducing every taxpayers cost for the shelter.
- There have been many presentations to Horry County Council over the years with no discussion on how to solve the issues residents have brought forth on the shelter killings of healthy, adoptable animals. County Council Members continue to ignore the problems and are wasting time instead of searching for solutions. The most recent offer was from a national animal organization to help Horry County shelter go from High-Kill to No-Kill with no cost to the county. Taxpayers want to know why the free offer was rejected by County Council Members.
